Exclusive NYC Highlights Every Luxury Traveler Should Visit

New York is home to some of the world’s most exclusive bars, restaurants, and accommodations. Dubbed as the “city that never sleeps”,  it should come as no surprise that it offers such luxurious places. Here’s where you go for the finest late-night dinners and drinks in the Big Apple any time of the year:

Philippe Chow

In the Meatpacking District, go to Philippe Chow, the restaurant to the Upper East Side branch, where Rihanna and Cardi B have been seen eating chicken satay. Philippe Chow is owned by the same couple that owns the Upper East Side branch. The old Beijing restaurants inspire its cuisine, and it has all of the typical Chinese dishes, including a giant Peking duck that is cut tableside. If you want to wash it down with something special, there is plenty of variety in their wine offerings, and the sommelier won’t disappoint!

Lemon’s at the Wythe

Traveling up to the Wythe hotel’s new rooftop bar, which debuted this summer, will provide you with a taste of the good life in Williamsburg. Lemon’s is an homage to all things Italian, most notably its aperitivo culture, which is alive and well in the form of Aperol spritz on tap, frozen rosé, and cocktails such as the Tiny Dancer, which are served in small glasses. While you watch the sunset over Manhattan via the floor-to-ceiling windows, late-night DJs keep the vinyl spinning into the wee hours.

Bemelman’s

Embark on a journey back in time by slipping inside the Bemelman’s bar at the Carlyle, a cherished Rosewood outpost on the Upper East Side, where you can enjoy classic drinks and live piano music from time to time. While sitting on your brown leather bench, take in the sights and sounds of the well-heeled crowd exchanging secrets, the drawings on the walls from Ludwig Bemelman’s beloved Madeline novels, or the 24-karat gold leaf ceiling, all of which may be appreciated from your perch. Order a tequila Manhattan to start the festivities if you’re genuinely in the mood for a party.

Feroce

Feroce, located below from the Fleur Room, is a must-stop on your way up or down from Chelsea if you’re planning a journey to Italy through Chelsea. Out on the leafy terrace, take a stripy seat inspired by the interiors of vintage Ferraris and tuck into an array of dishes from all over Italy. Many of the ingredients are sourced from small-scale producers in Italy, such as the super-sweet Piennolo tomatoes from near Mount Vesuvius and the super-sized Amalfi lemons from the island of Capri.

The Fleur Room

This cocktail bar at the top of the Moxy Chelsea has only been on the New York scene for a short time, but it has quickly established itself as the go-to spot for editors and their after-parties (the Met Ball carried on here last May). Every window offers breathtaking views, but the interiors are just as tempting because of the abundance of beautiful flowers.

Dante

Dante, a beautifully restored Greenwich Village restaurant, has been a fashionable hangout for more than a century, and it’s never been more fashionable. These days, the espresso bar is more well-known for its cocktails and small dishes than its espresso drinks. Take a seat on the sidewalk patio and take in the sights and sounds of Manhattan during a wonderful Manhattan aperitivo hour, during which you may select from no less than ten different varieties of Aperol spritz.

Ophelia

Ophelia and its inventively titled concoctions are the places to be if you want to drink the trendiest cocktails in town from a front-row seat that overlooks the city skyline (Far East Side, Pain Killa, Resurrection). The club, located on the 26th level of the Beekman Tower, has wrap-around patios, art deco architectural flourishes, and velvet banquettes and chairs. If you’ve had a little too much fun with the mezcal-based cocktails, the menu will come to your rescue with hearty comfort foods like grilled cheese and truffle fries being served up throughout the day.

Final Thoughts

New York is such a large and varied metropolis that you could live here for four lifetimes and still not be able to see and do all the city has to offer. These must-go places will let you get a sense of the city’s throbbing heart, whether you’re a resident who realizes you haven’t had enough time to properly explore its parks and history or a visitor who doesn’t know the Met from the MoMA.
